I experienced this first hand and was shocked when a close relative noted with criticism my use of the personal pronoun “I” when discussing spiritual topics, believing I should speak using “we” and “us” as my husband’s opinions should naturally be mine as well. No thank you and moving on. “I” am not in a marriage where I’m expected to silence my voice or shrink smaller!
